Welcome to Room 102

As you come into the year and into my classroom, my goal is to help you see yourself as a reader, a writer, an analyzer, and a creator. Your perspective is important in our discussions and in our evaluation of a variety of books and stories. I hope during the course of our time together, you come to see yourself as valuable as I see you.

Who am I?

Originally from Abbotsford, I graduated a proud Falcon in 1991. After graduation, I moved to St. Cloud, Minnesota where I received my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from St. Cloud State University. After a year in the 4K classroom, I moved to Portland, Oregon to pursue my Masters in Special Education: Deaf Education at Lewis & Clark College. I was fortunate to find a position as the High School Math Teacher at the Oregon School for the Deaf where I also coached volleyball, Track & Field, and the "Brain Bowl" squad. After 8 years, my late husband and I packed up our house and dog and moved back to central Wisconsin where I worked as an Itinerate Teacher for the Deaf first for Marathon County Special Education serving 8 districts and then CESA 10 serving 22 districts. After 13 years on the road, it was time to park my Green Bean and come back to the classroom. In the summer of 2020 I pursued and received my EBD License through the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire. In the summer of 2021 I was approached about an opening in the English department and I realized it was time to hang up my Special Education role. Since then I have been working toward my English / Language Arts certification and enjoying all the literature we explore.

I was blessed to find love again with someone who loves family, friends, motorcycles, the outdoors, and spoiling our dog Stella as much as I do. If we're not on an adventure, you can find me (coffee in hand) puttering in my garden, knitting or reading on the SheShed porch, or trying a new recipe in my kitchen.

I have always known I was born to be a teacher. I am a life long learner and encourage everyone to reach for their highest potential on a daily basis and then reach beyond that.

"There is good in every child.

Find that good and teach to it."

Our primary goal in this redesign is to make our classrooms more accessible for everyone.

Under each class heading you will find instructional goals and current lessons as well as a calendar of assigned homework with due dates. A map of the year is also outlined to give you and your student an idea of what we will be covering as a whole.

As you navigate through my webpage, please do not hesitate to reach out for clarification, with questions, or with comments. I welcome (and appreciate!) any feedback that helps me create a better learning environment.
